No, I’m not going to cruelly snatch this one away from you. Many of you no doubt dream of inhaling a tub of Ben & Jerry’s for breakfast, rather than the usual wallpaper-paste like substance many dietitians suggest, and while this particular recipe isn’t quite as moreish cookie dough, it does taste damn good and mimics that much loved ice-cream texture.
So how do I make it? Easy – throw all this in a blender;
- 60g Oats
- Handful of frozen mixed summer fruit (strawberries, blackberries, cranberries, etc)
- Half a Banana
- Six Walnuts
- One Teaspoon of Flaxseed
- A generous glug of semi-skimmed milk
- One scoop of Strawberry Whey Protein powder
Wizz this lot up and you should be left with something with a pink/purple colour that’s fairly thick. Pour into a glass or bowl, and marvel at this impossibly delicious breakfast that’s packed fully of lean protein, complex carbs and healthy fats.
You can modify the amount or type of ingredients you use to manipulate the calorie content and macronutrient profiles, but don’t mess around with the original recipe too much or it won’t taste so damned good! If you prefer the mixture to be thinner so you can drink it, simply add more milk.
